Fourteen people represented the AGS Group, and each person had an opportunity to organize meetings and to network with partners and agents with whom we have close business ties.
The atmosphere was festive and the meetings were very interesting; some new agents joined FIDI, thus making new contacts easily accessible.
Despite the current dismal situation of the moving industry in some parts of the world, all the participants were in high spirits and existing ties with some of our partners were strengthened, thanks to the inspiration and allure of Rome.
The organisation of this event was flawless, from the accommodation and guided tours in Rome, to the conferences and work meetings.
Various topics were tackled, and amongst these, Luis Roque from the US State Department spoke about the economy, with the title: ‘Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?’ The delivery of the last topic was accompanied by Linda Bauer Darr (AMSA), Terry Head (IAM) and Evelyn de Jaen (LACMA).
Another workshop was headed by several managing directors, such as Michael Gerson, Lars Iversen from Santa Fe, Cliff Williamson from Transpack Argentina, and Bryan Putt from AIReS. The theme of this workshop was "Business Management at a Time of Crisis". The aim was to highlight the impact of the worldwide crises in our industry.
The agents in Italy arranged a party at the Hilton in the hotel’s gardens and invited all the participants. In addition, three Italian companies invited 400 FIDI members to a dinner at an old palace in Rome.
FIDI honoured the managing directors of those companies that promote and organise for training at the FIDI academy. Alain Taieb received a prize from the FIDI Board in person.
The next FIDI convention will take place next year in Melbourne, where a large number of members are expected, and even though this destination is so distant, it still sparks much interest and fascination.
AGS would like to extend its thanks to FIDI, and will definitely be attending the 2010 seminar in Australia. |
