Dear Colleagues
Despite the reminder sent last April that strictly no alcohol should be sent to Mauritania, some shipments containing alcohol are still arriving in this country.
Following a series of shipments containing alcohol sent by several AGS branches, local customs are now much stricter and every AGS shipment will be scanned.
Each shipment that is found by customs to contain alcohol will be confiscated at the port. AGS Frasers Mauritania will be in no position to do anything about it and clients would have to support additional demurrage and port storage charges. This includes DIPLOMATIC SHIPMENTS, for which no exceptions can be made.
This type of incident has a considerable impact on our brand image and the group’s reputation. We therefore request that you be extremely vigilant on this matter as AGS Frasers Mauritania can no longer try to clear shipments that contain alcohol. Each branch must take responsibility and warn its customers of Mauritanian customs’ zero-tolerance policy with regards to alcohol.
For additional information, kindly contact Chantal Robert, manager of AGS Frasers Mauritania, or Maggie Makanga, coordinator for Mauritania at the AGS Frasers Africa Desk. |
