NEW IMPORT TAX IN FRENCH POLYNESIA
AGS

Dear Colleagues

Please be reminded that the local government in French Polynesia has put a new tax in place, applicable since 1 March, 2011.

This tax is 1.25% of the CIF value (Cost/Insurance/Freight) and applies to all shipments arriving in French Polynesia. It is clearly indicated on the export document listing customs requirements for that destination. Note this is separate from the notion of exemption from customs duties and taxes. You will also need to add 3.05% collection credit and handling fees.

For instance, if the CIF amount is 8000 €, the tax amount will be 100 €. To this, you will need to add 100 x 3.05%, i.e. 3.05 €.

We recommend that you inform your customers, departing for French Polynesia, of these fees which they will need to pay upon arrival.

Please do not hesitate to contact Jean-Pierre Delalande, AGS Tahiti branch manager, for any additional information.

Best regards
