Dear Colleagues and Partners
Nhava Sheva port in Mumbai is experiencing shipment delays due to the late arrival of inbound and outbound vessels.
Customers should be warned that transit times may change, and to avoid making last minute changes to their shipments as this could result in further delays.
Services at the JNP, NSICT and GTI terminals are all affected by the late arrival of ships. The delay is causing vessels to miss turnaround schedules, and many are forced to leave containers behind at random locations before departing.
The GIT terminal is most affected as services are not at full capacity, resulting in heavy congestion at terminal gates. Most containers are taking between 30 – 40 minutes to gate in.
Vehicles are being diverted directly to the ports for import clearance at Dronagiri and other Container Freight Stations (CFS) at Nhava Sheva, delaying the movement of export containers.
The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) has stopped moving GTI terminal containers at Dronagiri CFS due to a number of trailers stuck in traffic which are then forced to return to the CFS.
Please note that the space in vessels is very limited at present. If customers avoid last minute changes to their shipments, we will be able to load their containers on the designated vessel in good time and avoid delays.
