AGS Mozambique Supports International Francophonie Day

In Mozambique’s capital in March this year, 16 football teams gathered to compete in the Tournoi de Football de la Francophonie, joining half a billion Francophones worldwide in the celebration of the International Day of Francophonie, held annually on 20 March.

This is the second year running that Maputo’s Ecole Française has hosted this popular soccer tournament, which would not have been possible without the support of major corporates, including AGS.

The Organisation internationale de la Francophonie promotes French culture and language by holding gatherings to reaffirm its commitment to peace and democracy, as well as linguistic diversity.

This year, over 1 000 events took place in the organisation’s 56 member countries, including Mozambique, where teams from French-speaking countries, Italy and Spain, as well as an all-women’s team, battled it out on the pitch.

Six hours after kick-off, the final game saw Mare Vazia, a local team, beat Italia 4-0. Marc Guyonnaud, Branch Manager of AGS Frasers Mozambique, presented a trophy to the player who scored the highest number of goals, as well as medals to all finalists.

Many of the participants in the games were expatriates whose families came along to join in the excitement. AGS believes in the importance of cultural exchange in improving expatriates’ experience in their host country, and AGS Frasers Mozambique was honoured to play a major role in providing a meeting place for all of Maputo’s residents at the Tournoi de Football de la Francophonie this year, to the delight of Maputo’s residents.

AGS Supports the 4L Trophy

Earlier this year, in February, the AGS Group demonstrated, once again, its support of the local communities in sponsoring the Raid 4 Learning Association by participating in the 4L Trophy.

The 4L Trophy, the first sports and humanitarian student event in Europe, is an adventure rally for students driving Renault 4L cars and takes place in the Moroccan desert. It is a unified movement as the aim is to provide school and sports supplies to the poorest children in Morocco.

It was a rewarding experience for the 2,000 students who participated, and it was an extraordinary act of unity towards Morocco, in which the AGS Group is pleased to have contributed.

Armelle de Buhren and Antoine Cotro, students at ESDES, Commerce and Management School of the Catholic University of Lyon, proudly sported AGS' colours.
