 Sponsorship

AGS Unites Communities.

AGS has once again demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility by sponsoring exciting events in Hong Kong, Bucharest and Bangkok. AGS believes in bringing communities together, and is always the first to be involved where charity is concerned.

The only boxing tournament that takes place in Hong Kong is the British Chamber of Commerce’s annual black tie ‘Boxing Smokers’ tournament at the Hong Kong Football Club. After six thrilling bouts of boxing, an auction was held in support of Operation Breakthrough, an organisation that helps youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. AGS Four Winds’ contribution to the evening, as loyal sponsors of the Boxing Smokers, was the transportation of the boxing ring under a tight deadline.

AGS Four Winds Hong Kong was also responsible for the transportation of tents and materials needed for the rugby tournament, marking the 25th anniversary of the popular Savills Professional Sevens. Sixteen teams took part in the corporate rugby challenge of the year, representing Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the host, Savills, among others. A total of 250 000 Hong Kong dollars was raised for six charities, among them the Hong Kong Cancer Fund and Enlighten Hong Kong (an organisation that focuses on raising awareness of epilepsy).

Being chosen as the only logistical sponsor for Cathay Pacific’s pedal kart race for charity was an honour for AGS Four Winds Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Pedal Kart Grand Prix is a gruelling overnight race which involves teams of up to twelve, taking it in turns to pedal around a circuit roughly 500m long. Donating their time and expertise to the event, which was covered by local press, was an innovative way to demonstrate AGS Four Winds’ commitment to the local community.

Also in China, AGS Four Winds Shanghai was recently a generous corporate sponsor for one of Shanghai’s most exciting sporting events – the Shanghai Friendship Annual regatta. All competitors were given AGS gift bags including a waterproof shoe bag, a beanie, and a USB disk containing the rules of this year’s race. AGS Four Winds Branch Manager Keith Ellis, who was thrilled to be involved in the regatta, describes the day: “There was laughter, serious sailing, and all around fun from start to finish.”

The annual Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce Gala dinner welcomed 280 guests at the Four Seasons Hotel Ballroom in Bangkok on November 7th. AGS Four Winds Bangkok sponsored the event, during which guests could win AGS-branded corporate gifts, after participating in various activities. Participants enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, were enthralled by a magic show and dazzled by an exceptional tango show. The guests, executives from prominent Thai companies, Government members, as well as elite members from the French-Thai community contributed to the success of the event, in which AGS Four Winds Bangkok, once again, happily participated.

In Europe, AGS Bucharest was a proud sponsor of the local Dictée des Amériques, a Canadian initiative promoting French language and culture. AGS offered gifts to all of the 625 participants to show their support: dictionaries, French text books, travel guides and CDs featuring popular music. In addition, AGS Bucharest made a contribution towards the grand prize – a flight to Quebec for the winners. Charles Baudart, in a warm speech, thanked all participants for their contribution in promoting French culture in Romania, and let them know that AGS would be more than happy to help with their relocation, should they decide to stay in Quebec!
