AGS Tahiti is 20 years old! |
On Monday 24 July 2006, AGS Tahiti proudly celebrated the 20 th anniversary of its founding when Alain Taïeb, CEO of the AGS Group, visited Tahiti. |
Mr. Taïeb invited all the branch’s staff members, along with their spouses, to celebrate the occasion with a marvellous dinner in the luxurious surroundings of the Intercontinental Hotel Beachcomber Resort.
Mr. Taïeb told the assembled guests that he was extremely pleased to be in Tahiti for the 20th anniversary and then briefly related the history of the Papeete branch. |
He made a special point of honouring branch manager Pierre Hotz, and pointed out that, thanks to him, AGS Papeete would forever remain fixed in his memory as the perfect combination of efficiency and performance. He also highlighted the pride and obvious pleasure that the entire AGS Papeete team took in belonging to the big AGS family.
Mr. Hotz was touched by these very warm words of praise, and, visibly emotional, he thanked Mr. Taïeb for his confidence and for letting him, once again, share precious moments with him and his whole team, without whom the branch’s achievements would have been impossible. |
AGS Tahiti remains a source of great pride for the entire Group. The branch's customer satisfaction rate has always been outstanding, and we wish the new management team, which is to take over at the beginning of 2007, the same success as the current one.
AGS Tahiti has a 12-hour time difference with Europe, and constantly shines the light of the tropical sun on us all. |
Thanks to this easternmost branch, we can say that 24 hours a day, somewhere in the world an AGS branch is taking care of its customers. The whole Group joins its Chairman in wishing the whole AGS Tahiti team a very happy birthday, and all of the very best for the next two decades. |

AGS Four Winds attends the British Ball in Shanghai |
The British Chamber Charity Ball is the biggest ball in Shanghai, and this year had over 640 attendees. “It is the highlight of the year for most expatriates,” reports Keith Ellis, AGS Four Winds China Managing Director and Chairman for the British Chamber Charity Committee. |
The British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (BritCham) was established in 1995 and is a non-profit organisation whose aims are to promote and deepen the relationship between the UK and China.
It also brings together and supports the increasing number of British business interests in Shanghai and the East China region. |
The majority of members are British companies and British nationals, but all companies and individuals who have links to, or have an interest in, the UK are welcome. BritCham provides a forum through which members and guests can widen their contacts in China, discuss the many issues facing foreign companies operating in China and suggest solutions together.
The band for the event, Fully Functional, was flown in especially from the UK for the festivities. AGS Four Winds actively participated in the festivities by sponsoring the transportation of the band for the event .

The ball was a great opportunity for AGS Four Winds representatives, many of whom are expatriates themselves, to spend an entertaining evening and to strengthen business ties within the local expatriate community.
Keith Ellis, dressed as a British palace guard, welcomed the guests and warmly thanked them for their generosity. |
Towards the end of the evening a competition for the best costumes was held. Trevor Sculthorp and Linda Standbridge were the talented winners of this competition. Social events provide networking opportunities as well as bringing the British community together, suggests Keith Ellis. The evening, filled with glamour, fun, mystery and adventure, was enjoyed by all.

The event was also covered by some well known media companies, including BTV and CCTV.
In the finals were teams hailing from France, England, Italy, Brazil, Iran, South Korea, Nigeria and the Ivory Coast. After some talented and spirited play, the English team finally emerged victorious. A great deal of fun was had by all. |

AGS Frasers helps with medical aid in Rwanda |
The Swiss Cooperation Office for Development has been active in Rwanda since 1963. In the more than 40 years since its arrival in the country, it has provided aid to the Rwandan people in many fields, including trade, banking, research, agriculture and medicine. |
In 2006, the Swiss Cooperation Office pursued this programme with a gift of medical and surgical material to the Rwandan government.
The Swiss Cooperation Office called on AGS Frasers Rwanda for the transport of this material, and we took care of import formalities and of storing the equipment before it was made available to a number of Rwandan Hospitals. |
A ceremony was held at the offices of AGS Frasers Rwanda in Gatsata on 18 September 2006 to commemorate the occasion, and both Dr Jean Damascène Ntawukuriryayo, the Rwandan Minister of Health, and Mr Mathias Weingart, |
Mission Head of the Swiss Cooperation Office for Development in Rwanda, were present.
Actions like this are part of AGS Frasers’s voluntary programme of social responsibility. We were happy to assist with this donation, and to use our expertise in the field of international transport to support the local population of one of the countries in which we operate. |
